In the podcast we reflect on the benefits of supervision and coaching.
My dream is that one day every leader, including heads of state, regularly attend supervision as integral part of their work to reflect on their work, their impact on the people their work for and the planet.
It was in 2006 when I discovered the famous Steve Jobs’ Stanford commencement addressthat had a huge impact on my life. Back then I didn’t know that Steve wasn’t the kind of leader I believe great leaders should be, but he sure had courage to follow his heart and intuition. Some of my favourite quotes from the speech:
‘Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.’
‘You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.’
Inspired by the commencement address and a Harvard University programme I attended years ago, together with Kairi Kuuskor from Bold Tuesday we delivered a practical seminar at Estonian Art Academy. The seminar was called ‘Courage to create one’s future’ and focused on two topics:
connecting the dots and trusting one heart and intuition in creating one’s future;
accelerators and brakes (or our dreams and fears, loyalties etc) and ways of releasing the latter;
growth support opportunities, such as mentoring, coaching and supervision.
We shared our own personal dots and pivots from the past and invited the big hall of students and lecturers to do so.

A mentor doesn’t have to be older or even senior to you. They just have to do something better than you do and you want to learn from them. In fact, everyone can be a potential mentor.

Jah, ma tõesti arvan, et igaühel võiks elus olla oma mentor – keegi, kes oma kogemuste baasilt on valmis toetama õppimist ja kasvamist ning aitab tähelepanu juhtida tugevustele ja arenguvõimalustele, mida ise ei pruugi alati näha.
Olen EAS ärimentorprogrammis tegutsenud mentorina alates 2008.a. See on olnud üks suurepärasemaid võimalusi õppida koos väga mitmekesiste ja inspireerivate inimestega.
Seega, kui Sa pole veel osalenud, haara võimalusest.

Põnev kogemus! Sain osaleda coachina maailma esimese digitaalse ärimentori kõrval.
Mul on üle 10 aasta coachingu ja ärimentorluse kogemust. Olen praktiseerinud ka netipõhist nõustamist. SEB kasvuprogrammi digitaalses piloodis sain aga uue kogemuse – osaleda coachina digitaalse ärimentori kõrval. Alar Kolki sõnul on Growbymaailma esimene digitaalne ärimentor.
Growby – tehisintellektil baseeruv lahendus
Growby on tehisintellektil ja masinõppel baseeruv lahendus, mis õpib ettevõtete kogemusest ning oskab kogutud teadmust omakorda edasi anda teistele ettevõtetele. Masinõppe abil koondab robot endas nii maailma innovaatilisemate ning kiiremini kasvate ettevõtete kogemuse kui ka kogemused, mis on omandatud kolme SEB Kasvuprogrammi käigus, kus kokku osalesid 36 Eesti ettevõtet erinevatest valdkondadest.
Growby nõustab ettevõtteid turvalises veebikeskkonnas suheldes ettevõtjatega ka läbi Facebook Messengeri, mille kaudu edastatakse nii õppematerjale aga ka meeldetuletusi kodutööde kohta.

Kui igast inimestevahelisest kontaktist jäävad maha õnnelikumad inimesed. Kui iga kontakti järel tunneme, et oleme sellest kokkupuutest kasvanud ja uut jõudu saanud, saab maailm igas hetkes paremaks ja õnnelikumaks. Püüan arendada seda hoiakut endas ning innustada oma koolitustel, coachingus ja supervisioonis osalevaid juhte ja meeskondi arendama seda ka endas.
20. novembril 2017 korraldas ENUT Naiste ettevõtluse konverentsi, kuhu olin lahkesti palutud jagama oma ettevõtluse ja EAS ärimentorprogrammi mentorluse kogemust.
Sellest on ka all videoklipike, kus 13.45 minutil jagan mina oma ettevõtja kogemusi. Täpsustuseks nii palju, et mainin International Supervision and Coaching Institute’i, kus ma olen üks kaasasutajatest, mitte ainuasutaja nagu võib kõlama jääda.
